Preparation Before Installation
Get ready for installation by following key preparation guidelines and requirements.
Printer Installation Preparation and Checklist Guide
Get your workspace, power supply, computer, and materials ready before your Xinflying printer arrives. This guide takes you from site preparation through the first test print and operator handover. If your system includes a powder shaker, prepare its space and power supply as well. Check your model’s specifications and follow your Xinflying technician’s instructions during installation.
1. Prepare the installation space
- Check access and clearance.
Measure doors, corridors, elevators, and the installation area against the packed and unpacked dimensions of each machine. Leave room to move equipment in, load film and other materials, operate the system, and reach all sides for maintenance. - Clean and plan the workspace.
Remove dust and debris. Decide where the printer, powder shaker, computer, and consumables will go before delivery. - Control the room conditions.
Aim for 22–28°C (72–82°F) and 45–60% relative humidity. Air conditioning can help, but do not direct its airflow at the printer. - Provide ventilation and safety equipment.
Keep air moving so ink and process odors do not build up. Keep the area free of open flames, place a suitable fire extinguisher nearby, and have protective gloves available for handling ink and cleaning fluids.
2. Have the electrical supply ready before installation
Arrange a qualified electrician to prepare and verify the circuits, outlets, grounding, and protective devices. Give the electrician the actual voltage, phase, rated power, current, and plug or connection type shown on each machine’s nameplate or order documents. Do not choose an outlet from a generic plug chart alone.
| Equipment | Preparation described in the Xinflying electrical requirements |
|---|---|
| Printer and dedicated computer | Use one circuit for the printer and computer, with a properly connected protective earth. The supplied wiring guide specifies a main conductor of at least 4 mm² and a voltage stabilizer. It gives 3 kW per printer as the starting stabilizer capacity; size the final unit for the actual connected load and number of printers. |
| Powder shaker, if included | Provide a separate circuit from the printer and computer. The supplied wiring guide specifies a main conductor of at least 6 mm², a securely connected, correctly rated outlet or hardwired connection, and protective earth. The required outlet and breaker depend on the particular shaker’s rating. |
The electrician must confirm conductor size, breaker rating, outlet, stabilizer capacity, and grounding against the equipment ratings, cable run, supply voltage, and local electrical code. Some high-power equipment requires a different voltage or three-phase supply. Never operate the printer or powder shaker from an ungrounded outlet, an overloaded circuit, or loose wiring. Route power and data cables so they are long enough, protected from damage, and free of tension or tangles.
3. Prepare a dedicated computer and network connection
The following configuration combines the detailed computer requirements supplied for the printer with the connection requirements in the preparation guide:
| Item | Recommended preparation |
|---|---|
| Processor | Intel Core i5 or i7, 10th generation or newer |
| Memory | At least 16 GB; the supplied computer requirements specify a single 16 GB module or larger |
| Storage | At least 1 TB; use an SSD for the system drive and leave room for software and print files |
| Power supply, for a desktop PC | 500 W or higher |
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, subject to compatibility with the supplied printer and RIP software; confirm the version with Xinflying support before buying or upgrading the PC |
| Ports | A working USB 3.0 port and Gigabit Ethernet port; a laptop needs a Gigabit Ethernet adapter if it has no built-in port |
Use a Gigabit (1000 Mbps) network adapter for a printer that connects through Ethernet. The supplied technical requirements warn that a 100 Mbps adapter may prevent the printer from connecting. Keep the printer computer dedicated to printing and avoid changes that could disrupt its drivers, RIP settings, or saved system backup.
Before the installation appointment, make sure the computer can access a stable internet connection for software setup and remote support. If security software or the firewall blocks the printer software, ask the technician to identify the specific program or connection that needs an exception.
Software and remote support
You will need both printer control software, which communicates with the machine, and RIP software, which prepares artwork for printing. These may be on the USB drive supplied with the machine; in some cases, the Xinflying team supplies the RIP software separately through the support group. Keep the USB drive and any license information available for the technician.
For a first installation, arrange a remote session with Xinflying support. The sales team may create a dedicated support group, such as on WhatsApp or WeChat, to coordinate the installation. If requested, install AnyDesk for Windows in advance and share your AnyDesk address only with the technician assigned through that support channel. Coordinate driver, printer software, and RIP installation with the technician.
4. Gather ink, media, tools, and people
- Have the Xinflying-specified ink, compatible printing film, cleaning fluid, and moisturizing fluid for your model ready. Check seals and expiration dates; do not use contaminated or expired supplies.
- Before filling ink, inspect the bottom of each bottle for sediment with a flashlight. The installation precautions suggest rolling the ink in an ink rolling machine for 1–2 hours when preparation is needed. Do not fill the machine while sediment remains; ask the technician how to proceed.
- Prepare basic tools: flat and Phillips screwdrivers, hex keys, an adjustable wrench, scissors or wire cutters, a hammer, and a ruler or tape measure. Follow the model’s manual for any additional tools.
- Arrange enough people to receive, unpack, move, and assemble the equipment safely. Reserve several hours for installation, calibration, and test prints; allow for time-zone differences if support is remote.
- Assign at least two long-term operators to attend the full installation and operation training. They should learn daily operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting so knowledge remains available during leave or staff changes.
5. Inspect the shipment before assembly
As soon as the equipment arrives, compare the machines and accessories with the packing list. Photograph any damage or missing parts, record a video of at least 30 seconds, and report the issue promptly through your Xinflying support channel. Keep the packaging and evidence until the issue is resolved.
Read the model-specific installation and operation manuals before connecting parts. Confirm that the print carriage is secured for transport; if its transport restraint is missing or damaged, tell the technician. The restraint must be removed before carriage movement or testing, following the technician’s directions.
6. Follow these precautions during installation
Do not power on the printer until the Xinflying technician has approved the setup. Contact the technician whenever a connection, component, or procedure is uncertain.
- Assemble the machine as directed. Check that fasteners are tight and that the print platform is clear of tools, packaging, and debris.
- Keep ink, cleaning fluid, and other liquids away from the printheads, cables, and electronics. Liquid contact can damage the printheads or circuit boards.
- Connect printhead cables exactly as shown in the model manual. Double-check their orientation and seating, then send clear photos or video of the completed connections to the technician before power-on. Incorrect connections can damage the printheads or boards.
- Remove the carriage transport restraint at the instructed stage, before any movement or calibration. Do not force the carriage.
- Load the printing film flat and secure it with the platform’s press clips so it cannot rise and strike the printheads. Confirm clip positioning with the technician for your model.
- Follow the technician’s sequence for ink filling, circulation, priming, and software settings. For models with white-ink circulation, the supplied precautions call for running the circulation system for 2–3 minutes before drawing white ink, then stopping it as directed. The precautions also call for setting the software Color Bar to Wetting; confirm that this setting applies to your software version.
Printheads are delicate and costly. Review the warranty and consumable terms supplied with your order before unsealing or installing them, and handle them only as instructed.
7. Commission, train, and hand over the system
With the technician, complete the model’s startup checks, calibration, and a test print. Confirm print quality, film transport, powder shaker operation if applicable, and normal communication between the computer and printer. Resolve any issue before treating the installation as complete.
Before shutdown, check that the carriage has returned to its correct parking position and that the printhead sits centered on the capping station, as described in the maintenance manual. An incorrectly parked printhead can dry out or clog.
Record the final settings, calibration values, software versions, and any agreed maintenance steps. The technician may create a system backup on the printer computer after installing the software and drivers; do not delete, move, or overwrite it. Complete and submit the Installation Completion Confirmation Form according to your order documents. Keep the manuals, support contact, and a daily maintenance schedule available to both trained operators.
