UV FLATBED PRINTING SOLUTION
UV Printer for Acrylic Printing
Print vivid, durable graphics directly on clear, frosted and colored acrylic sheets — for signs, awards, displays and custom products.
Common Challenges in Acrylic Printing

Scratching and Poor Ink Adhesion
Traditional printing methods may suffer from weak adhesion on acrylic surfaces, leading to scratching, peeling, or reduced product durability.

Limited Customization Capability
Many businesses struggle to efficiently handle short-run custom acrylic orders while maintaining consistent print quality.

High Outsourcing Costs
Outsourcing acrylic signage production can increase lead times and reduce profit margins for local printing businesses.
What Makes UV Printing on Acrylic Different?
Unlike traditional screen printing or vinyl wrapping UV printing bonds ink directly to the acrylic surface with UV-cured precision — Giving you sharper images, more vibrant colors, and longer-lasting results.

Applications of Acrylic UV Printing
From retail signage to architectural elements, UV printing transforms acrylic into a premium canvas for virtually any industry.
Indoor & Outdoor Signs, Display Panels
UV printing on acrylic delivers professional-grade signage with optical clarity and weather resistance. Whether it’s a backlit lobby sign, a retail shelf talker, or an outdoor billboard panel, the UV-cured ink adheres permanently to the surface — no peeling, no fading, no cracking even after years of exposure.
- Retail & brand signage (frosted and clear acrylic)
- Backlit display panels with white ink underlayer
- Trade show booths and point-of-sale displays
- Wayfinding signage for offices and hotels

Trophies, Plaques & Custom Awards
Clear and frosted acrylic is the material of choice for premium awards. UV printing enables full-color logos, portraits, and fine-line text directly on the award surface — eliminating engraving limitations and allowing photorealistic personalization for each recipient.
- Corporate achievement trophies
- Sports medals and recognition plaques
- Personalized commemorative pieces
- Event souvenir keepsakes

Wall Art, Decorative Panels & Furniture Accents
Architects and interior designers are increasingly specifying UV-printed acrylic for high-end residential and commercial interiors. The combination of the material’s depth and clarity with vivid UV-printed imagery creates a floating-glass artwork effect impossible to achieve with any other print method.
- Large-format wall murals on clear acrylic
- Decorative room dividers and privacy screens
- Backlit art panels and illuminated ceilings
- Kitchen splashbacks and bathroom feature walls

Branded Merchandise & Corporate Gifts
Short-run promotional printing on acrylic blanks has become a fast-growing segment for UV printer operators. With no minimum order quantities and same-day turnaround capability, businesses can offer fully personalized keychains, coasters, phone stands, and photo frames.
- Branded keychains and luggage tags
- Custom photo frames and desk accessories
- Corporate gift sets with company branding
- Event merchandise and conference giveaways

Instrument Panels, Nameplates & OEM Parts
UV printing replaces traditional pad printing and laser marking for acrylic industrial components. The high chemical resistance of UV inks ensures legibility and adhesion even in demanding environments —— from medical devices to marine instrument panels.
- Control panel overlays and instrument faces
- Product nameplates and model identification labels
- Medical device front panels
- Electronic enclosure faceplates

How to UV Print on Acrylic Sheets: Step-by-Step Process

Select the appropriate acrylic grade for your application (cast acrylic recommended for superior ink adhesion). Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove dust, fingerprints, and release agent residue. Allow to dry completely before loading.
Create or import your artwork in the RIP software (e.g., Photoprint or Wasatch). Set the color profile to match your acrylic substrate (clear, frosted, or colored). Enable the white ink channel if printing on clear or dark acrylic to create an opaque base layer.
Place the acrylic sheet on the flatbed table. Use registration pins or edge guides to ensure precise alignment. Set the print head height to 2–3mm above the acrylic surface using the auto-height sensor.
Print a small test strip on a scrap acrylic piece to verify color accuracy, white ink opacity, and registration. Inspect under consistent lighting and adjust density settings as needed before proceeding to the full run.
Send the approved file to the printer. The UV LED lamps cure the ink instantly as each pass completes — no wait time between passes. For premium results, use a 4-pass or 6-pass setting for maximum detail and ink density.
Allow 2–3 minutes after printing for full UV cure to complete. Inspect print quality, color consistency, and edge sharpness. Apply protective film for transit if required. Clear acrylic panels may be back-laminated with white vinyl to create a polished finished product.

4 of 4UV Printer for Acrylic Printing FAQs
A: Yes. UV flatbed printers can print on cast acrylic, extruded acrylic, frosted acrylic, colored acrylic, and mirrored acrylic. Cast acrylic is generally preferred for the best ink adhesion and finish quality. Surface cleaning with IPA before printing is recommended for all types.
A: Most Xinflying UV flatbed printers support acrylic sheets up to 50mm thick. Some specialized models can accommodate thicker substrates. The print head height is automatically adjusted to maintain the optimal 2–3mm gap from the print surface.
A: Standard acrylic does not require a chemical primer for UV printing. Simply clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and ensure it is dust-free and completely dry. For very smooth or highly polished surfaces, a light sanding (800–1000 grit) can improve ink adhesion on certain acrylic grades.
A: UV-cured inks on acrylic maintain their vibrancy for 5+ years in outdoor applications and indefinitely for indoor use under normal conditions. The UV-curing process creates a cross-linked polymer bond that is highly resistant to UV light, moisture, abrasion, and most common chemicals.
A: Yes. All Xinflying UV printers support white ink printing. White ink can be used as a base layer under CMYK colors on clear acrylic to create opaque, vibrant prints, or applied separately for a frosted effect. Double-white pass is available for maximum opacity.
A: Our RIP software (Photoprint, AccuRIP, or Wasatch) accepts all standard print-ready formats including PDF, TIFF, EPS, AI, PSD, and PNG. Files should be prepared at 150–300 dpi at final print size. RGB color mode is recommended; the RIP handles the CMYK conversion with substrate-specific ICC profiles.
A: Xinflying UV inks are RoHS-compliant and meet CE certification standards. For general indoor signage and decorative applications, they are safe after full curing. For food-contact applications, please inquire about our specific food-safe UV ink options and certification documentation.
A: UV printers cure ink instantly with UV light, producing no VOC emissions, with sharper detail and better adhesion on rigid substrates like acrylic. Solvent printers use evaporation to dry ink, which requires more ventilation, longer drying time, and is generally not suitable for thick rigid acrylic sheets. UV printing is the industry standard for acrylic applications.
