Not Sure Which Printer Fits Your Business?
Tell us your production volume. Our senior technical experts will customize a complete, high-ROI digital printing solution for you.
DTF Printing Workflow
A streamlined, repeatable production process — from digital file to finished garment.
Prepare artwork in standard formats (AI, PDF, PNG, PSD). No color separation or screen preparation required — send the digital file directly to the RIP software.
Print CMYK color layers followed by a white ink underbase directly onto PET transfer film using the DTF printer.
Apply hot-melt adhesive powder evenly across the wet ink surface. Excess powder is removed automatically by the powder shaker.
Pass the film through the powder shaker's heating unit to melt and fully bond the adhesive layer to the ink. This step determines transfer durability.
Press the cured film onto the garment at 160–170°C for 10–15 seconds using a heat press machine. Apply even pressure across the full transfer area.
Peel the film and deliver a vibrant, wash-durable print — ready for quality check, folding, and shipment to your customer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before starting your DTF printing business.
A DTF (Direct to Film) printer is a digital printing machine that prints designs onto PET transfer film using CMYK ink layers plus a white ink underbase. The printed film is coated with hot-melt adhesive powder, cured, and then heat-pressed onto garments or other fabric surfaces. The result is a vibrant, flexible, and wash-durable print without the need for screen preparation or fabric pre-treatment.
DTF printing works on a wide range of fabrics including cotton, polyester, nylon, denim, canvas, leather, EVA foam, and most synthetic blends. It is compatible with both light and dark-colored fabrics, as well as stretchy and textured materials that are difficult to print on using traditional methods.
For short-run and multi-design jobs, DTF offers significant advantages over screen printing. There are no setup costs, no minimum order quantities, and no color registration limits. Each design can be printed individually without any additional preparation, making DTF far more cost-effective and flexible for businesses handling personalized or small-batch orders.
When applied correctly at the recommended temperature and pressure, DTF prints withstand 40 to 50 or more wash cycles without cracking, peeling, or significant fading. Print durability is comparable to high-quality screen printing when proper curing and pressing parameters are followed.
A complete DTF setup requires three main components: a DTF printer (with CMYK and white ink), a powder shaker with curing function, and a heat press machine. Xinflying supplies all three as integrated solution packages, eliminating the need to source equipment from multiple suppliers.
Yes. The white ink underbase layer is a core part of the DTF printing process. It ensures that CMYK colors appear fully saturated and accurate on black, navy, dark grey, and other deep-colored fabrics — without any color distortion or transparency issues.
The total investment depends on the production scale and equipment configuration you choose. Xinflying offers entry-level, business, and industrial setups to match different budgets and output requirements. Contact us for current pricing and package details.
Production speed varies by model and print pass setting. Xinflying DTF printers range from 7 m²/h on entry-level A2 models up to 88 m²/h on the industrial XF-L1208 (1.2 m, 8-head). The right model depends on your daily order volume and turnaround requirements.
Yes. Because DTF is a fully digital process, each print job can contain a completely unique design with no re-setup time between orders. This makes it ideal for name-and-number customization, individualized gifts, and one-off customer requests.
A properly cured and pressed DTF transfer typically maintains print quality through 50 or more standard wash cycles. Longevity depends on following the correct application settings — temperature, pressure, and press duration — as well as using high-quality ink and adhesive powder.
